Myself, 37, and my husband Karl, 40, from London, took our children Isabella, 4, and Toby, 22 months, to Keycamp’s Park Albatros in Tuscany. We flew to Pisa and picked up a hire car for the 80km drive to the park.
The breathtaking scenery of Tuscany, coupled with a family-friendly resort and good climate seemed just the ticket. And when we arrived at our Vista Prestige mobile home I was really impressed. It’s incredibly spacious with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and an open kitchen/lounge area, as well as outside decking. Keycamp supplies travel cots but you need to remember to bring your own bedding.
Fantastic facilities
The facilities are ideal for families with small children. There are five swimming pools, including two amazing large paddling lagoons along with tunnels to crawl through and islands to climb.
Around the pool are toilets with baby change facilities, a shop, poolside restaurant and lifeguard area – very useful when Isabella cut her foot and needed first-aid attention.
The park is set among tall pine trees, surrounded by beautiful countryside and is quite near to the beach (800 metres from the park entrance). A children’s play area, kids club and toddler’s disco meant we didn’t really want to venture outside base camp much anyway. But we’re glad we did.
We visited the nearby island of Elba, which had beautiful beaches, and we enjoyed the pretty hilltop town of Populonia. We also drove to Sienna one day and even stopped off to see Pisa and the famous leaning tower on the way back to the airport. What more could we ask?”
