A girl named Brighton

A baby girl has been called Isabel Brighton after her parents honeymooned in the city

A couple have named their baby after a British seaside resort

A couple have named their newborn baby Isabel Brighton after they spent their “wonderful” honeymoon in the seaside resort.

US-based mum and dad Dean and Kelly Hernandez won the trip to the city in a charity auction held by a TV station.

The pair enjoyed the holiday so much that they have now named their daughter after the bustling hub – despite them visiting the popular destination more than four years ago.

Mr Hernandez said in an email to the local council: "We were absolutely enamoured of our experience in England but especially with Brighton and with the wonderful people we had the opportunity to meet there.

"In all of our travels around the world, there has been no place whose people made such a singularly good impression upon us."

He added naming their baby Isabel Brighton was to remember "a wonderful city and its people who represent cherished memories to us".

The couple, who enjoyed a reception at the Royal Pavilion and a stay at the Grand Hotel during their trip, have vowed to return to Sussex with their daughter on their five year anniversary.

Does your little one’s name hold any special memories for you? Let us know …

Find it odd people give their children place names just because of conception!!! How many kids would be called 'bed'!!!!!!!!! Lol

I really really wanted to call Tom Elvis!!!! Only my ma ringing m daily begging me not to actually stopped me!!!! I'm not a huge Elvis fan I just like the name!

We do however live on a council estate and I was a little concerned he'd be beaten for it! Should have called Jc Elvis-he can look after himself!!!!! But then of course Tom and Elvis don't really go!!!!!

I love unusual names,as I love classic names, but we have a bit of welsh hating going n with the outlaws so my lads got lumbered with welsh names!!!!! Lol cld have bn worse!!!

Oooh immaculate conception.

Brighton's only her middle name. Not quite so bad.

We kept Merlin's name quiet cos we were sick of other peoples opinions. We'd wanted to call Arthur Merlin but listened to other people and went with Arthur, which was 2nd choice. As soon as we knew Merlin was a boy we decided his name and that we'd tell no one.MIL  actually phoned up to say you're not calling him that.Took great joy in saying we weren't when I knew we were.People's reaction when you tell them is usually "oh".Don't care,my baby.We get it a bit with Arwen, they ask is it Welsh. We tell them it's Elvish they usually go "that's nice" or again "oh"

Harry was nearly Horatio, after Admiral Nelson. He was so so lucky we saw sense.Merlin nearly had Pendragon as a middle name(King Arthur's middle name).Again lucky escape.

As for place of conception,if you've ever visited Chatham or Gillingham you'd know why we didn't use either, anyway they'd just sound stupid.

Matilda gets sung at,Waltzing Matilda of course but our kids watched a tv show where there was a magic cookery book called Matilda, and there's a song about it.They still sing at her.
