The 40ft bouncy version of the sunken ship upsets visitors at trade show in Switzerland
Visitors at a toy fair in Ibach, Switzerland, were left shocked after coming face to face with a 40ft children’s bouncing slide – in the shape of the ill-fated Titanic.
The tragic ship replica was tilted to look like it was sinking and even came with inflatable icebergs for the full effect. Trade fair visitors branded the slide “sick” and of bad taste to those 1,517 passengers who lost their lives when it sunk in 1912.
“Is it ethical to let kids slide down the decks of a blow-up Titanic? Hundreds of people died sliding down those decks, it’s very insensitive,” a Titanic Club member from Switzerland said.
However, despite the slide being described as a “bouncy graveyard”, organisers of the fair thought the ship was a success.
“The tragic Titanic accident happened years ago and those emotions have been dealt with long ago. Now people are having fun on the slide and enjoying themselves,” said Franziska Bhend from the toy fair.
