Despite battling with multiple miscarriages, mum Trish Corcoran has finally had the baby girl she’s always wanted. Trish has been pregnant 15 times and given birth to four sons before she finally had her daughter Evie last year.
“We have been through such a lot to have Evie. When I look at her I just burst with pride, I already had an amazing family before she came along, but Evie has really made it complete,” said Trish, 32, from Feltham, Middlesex.
“I was determined that I was going to carry on until I had a daughter, and now she is born I feel like the happiest mother in the world,” Trish added.
Trish had her first son Micheal, 14, in 1997 with husband Michael, 44. Two years later Trish was pregnant with their second son Jack, 12. But in that same year, Trish suffered four miscarriages.
Trish lost another baby in 2002. In the same year she was pregnant for the eighth time but the couple found out that the baby had died during Trish’s 20-week pregnancy scan.
“It was devastating. All our hopes were dashed. The doctors told me he was a little boy and saying goodbye to him was the hardest thing we had ever done,” said Trish.
But despite the devastating news, Trish still wanted to keep trying for another baby.
In 2003, Trish was pregnant again and gave birth to their son Chris in May 2004. After that, she fell pregnant again and gave birth to their youngest son Joe.
“I was thrilled to have my four boys, but my desire to have a daughter was still so strong,” said Trish, who did online research to find out how she could increase her chances of having a daughter. She said she cut out acidic foods such as tomatoes and oranges and ate more foods such as carrots and peppers. She also tried to conceive at certain times of the month.
Trish had another four miscarriages before falling pregnant for the fifteenth time in February 2010.
Trish was expecting another miscarriage but in November last year, after 15 years of trying, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl, who weighed 8lb 4oz.
“I just couldn't believe it. I had held my breath from the moment she was delivered and then came those words that I had waited so long to hear,” said Trish.
“When I held my daughter finally in my arms I knew that my long battle had been worth it. I had to endure the heartache of losing 10 babies to have her,” Trish said.
