Mum gives birth to a baby boy after conceiving naturally while taking the contraceptive pill
Grandma Debbie Hughes was rather surprised to discover last year that she was pregnant with her third baby. Not only was she in her 50s, but she was also taking the contraceptive pill. In June, Debbie gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Kyle.
Debbie’s shock at finding she was pregnant happened after she began to put on weight and took a pregnancy test last March.
“I didn’t think it was possible. Not at my age, not at all,” Debbie told ITV’s Daybreak.
Debbie, who lives with partner Paul Clarke, 45, is already a mum to sons Mark, 26, and Brandon, 11. She is also a grandma to two girls Lydia, 2 and Nicole, 3, both older than their new uncle Kyle.
“I’d already given birth to three children, and thought that those days were definitely over,” explained Debbie, reports The Daily Mail. “I was on the contraceptive Pill just to make sure, but I never imagined I could ever have fallen pregnant at my age,” Debbie added.
Debbie went on to describe her shock at being a mum at her age. “I'm a grandmother and I love looking after my granddaughters – I never thought that I would be looking after another baby of my own.”
