An accident in America has led to a 17-month-old boy being described as a “miracle baby” after he became impaled on a metal rod and survived.
Jessiah Jackson fell from a chair at his home last week and fell directly onto the rod of a power washer, lodging the rod three inches into his brain.
Thankfully, Jessiah was with his uncle Carlton Reed, who has had training as an EMT (paramedic) at the time.
"It scared me to death. I didn't know what to do. I just knew to keep his head still," Uncle Carlton told reporters.
For Jessiah’s Granddad Joseph Jones, praying was all that could be done, "He didn't sugar coat anything. He said, 'Mr. Jones, more than likely, we pull the screw out of his head, he's going to bleed out and bleed to death,' so when he said that man I just lost it."
But just a day after surgery, toddler Jessiah was already recovering as if nothing had happened.
"I think we had a lot of help from above, and fortunately everything went well, so I think he is a miracle baby," Dr. Anand Germanwala, from The University of North Carolina Hospital, who treated Jessiah told CBS News.
Granddad Joe added, "It's like God gave him a second chance."
