According to a new survey by Debenhams, children under the age of 10 own more pairs of shoes than their parents.

On average little girls own a whopping 17 pairs of shoes, while little boys own an even more impressive 20 pairs, compared to mum and dad who own 15 and 10 respectively.

This new research suggests parents are looking at celebrity mini-me trendsetters such as Harper Beckham and Suri Cruise for fashion inspiration.

Forget boring old school shoes, British children appear to be stepping up their style game with a different shoe for every occasion, including trainers, wellies and summer sandals.

This excessive shoe wardrobe is also down to mums buying three or four pairs of shoes at a time for their children – waiting for their feet to grow to the next size.
