In a nutshell

A cross between a nursing bra and sports bra, the Anita 5051 is extremely comfortable and easy to use, perfect for the early stages of feeding and at night. But very well-endowed women may not find it supportive enough.

Buyer's Guide to Nursing Bras

Is it supportive?

I found this bra as supportive as I needed, but I’m at the smaller end of the scale. I'm not sure the same would be true for the more well-endowed, as there is a lot of stretch in the material. Anita claim it is particularly suitable for a heavy busy though. It has a three point back fastener if you need that extra support.

Is it easy to clean?

This bra is easy to clean as you can pop it into the washing machine up to 40C and I can confirm that it does wash and dry very easily.

Is it comfortable?

One of the lovely things about the Anita 5051 is that it's incredibly comfortable. As there's no underwiring, and the top elastic isn’t too tough, it could even be used as a night time bra. It's super soft and 90 per cent cotton, making the fabric quite breathable.

How is it when feeding?

Feeding is easy as it can be unclipped one-handed using the KwikKlips, and the whole cup comes down making it easier to get a good latch for new mums. This is also handy for those night-time feeds in low light.

8 of the best nursing bras

How does it compare to other nursing and maternity bras you've used?

This particular bra looks, and feels, like a cross between a traditional nursing bra and a sports bra. Being more flexible and less structured than most, this makes it ideal if you just want to be comfortable - great for wearing around the house.

What do you think of the design?

The design is simple and it is only available in white.

Would you recommend this maternity bra?

I would recommend this for smaller-busted mums as a comfortable option, and for larger women if they want something comfortable for the evening.

Buyer's guide to maternity bras

How robust and durable does it seem?

This bra seems well made and durable, but being so flexible, I'm not sure robust is the right word to use for it.

Who is this bra best for?

This bra is ideal from late pregnancy, and is perfect for a hospital bag, as the flexibility and room for growth means it can adapt as your breasts change and milk comes in.

It suits all shapes and sizes for night time and comfort, but I would say it's better for the smaller busted who don't need quite as much support.

The fact that the 5051 has no underwiring makes it extremely comfortable to wear, and its stretchiness means it accommodates your changing shape too.
