There's den building, bushcraft, Chinese dragon performers and more at forests around the country
Make the most of the fresh air before it gets too cold when the Forestry Commission opens up 28 woody sites to celebrate the UN’s International Year of Forests on September 11.
Children can watch exciting Chinese dragon performers roam the forests or put their creative skills to the test by building a secret den and taking part in bushcraft. Once they run out of steam make sure they sit down and listen to the storytelling or make something fun during woodland crafts.
There’s plenty for mums and dads too. Adults can participate in guided walks or if you are feel particularly adventurous take part in Nordic walking taster sessions. Test out your painting skills with mural painting which the whole family can join in.
