Mum appearing to breastfeed 3-year-old son makes this week’s US Time magazine cover
This week’s American edition of Time magazine features Jamie Lynne Grumet appearing to breastfeed her 3-year-old son on the cover, Time magazine’s online Lightbox reports. Photographer Martin Schoeller, who captured four families across the USA who practice so-called attachment parenting, said, “When you think of breastfeeding, you think of mothers holding their children, which was impossible with some of these older kids,” according to Time magazine’s online Lightbox. Martin added, “I liked the idea of having the kids standing up to underline the point that this was an uncommon situation.”
Martin also said of photographing the different families, "It was important to show that there’s no stereotypical look for a mom who practices this kind of parenting."The front cover of the magazine suggests Dr Bill Sears, author of The Baby Book, “became their guru”.
However, Time magazine’s backstory coverage suggests the four mums, while aware of Dr Bill’s book, had chosen attachment parenting for their own reasons.
