Bagpuss is back!
Children’s favourite cat may be making a TV return after 35 years
Despite only making 13 episodes, the much-loved programme about the candy striped cat who works in a shop, was a firm favourite for children in the 1970’s, and is set to win the hearts of a new generation of children.
First appearing on our screens on the BBC in 1974, it was voted the nation’s No 1 favourite children’s show in 1999. Now Bagpuss and his sidekick Professor Yaffle the wooden woodpecker may be dusting off their cobwebs for a 21st century comeback.
The creator, Oliver Postgate, died last year but his family and co-creator Peter Firmin own the rights to the programme and have been in talks with Coolabi, the people who’ve re-launched Noddy and Mr Men.
