Chelsea's Frank Lampard publishes children's book about, erm, football
Frankie's Magic Football intended to encourage children to read
Footballing legend Frank Lampard has turned his hand to writing a children's book, published this week.
Although he is father to two girls, Isla, 5, and Luna, 7, Frank aimed his book, Frankie's Football Magic, at boys who struggle to engage with reading.
The book not only deals with football, but there are also real tips and little life lessons about fair play, bravery, not littering and about focus. Frank is also involved with the Reading Agency's Summer Reading Challenge 2013, which asks children aged between four and 11 to visit their local library and read six 'creepy' books - the theme for this year's challenge.
Meanwhile, outgoing children's laureate Julia Donaldson is calling for a national book doctor to encourage the nation's children to read.
She describes her idea as a slot on something like Radio 4s Woman's Hour where people could ask questions like, “Why doesn’t my teenage son read any more?” or “Are there any good books about spiders?”.
