Dads in the North set to get more presents on Father’s Day
Will the dad in your house be pleasantly surprised...or will it be socks all round?

Dads in the North are set to have the best Father’s Day this year, with a survey showing children in Inverness are spending the most on presents.

Twenty five per cent of people surveyed in Inverness said they would be spending £100 on their dads, compared to just 17% of Londoners and 2.9% in Canterbury, according to www.buyagift.com that carried out the survey.

Overall, the average spend on a Father’s Day gift is £20.

But the poll didn’t just ask the buyers, dads also shared their wish and hate lists for fathers day presents, with the classic socks coming out as the worst rated gift. Topping the wish list was a day out experience, closely followed by a nice bottle of whiskey.

The five worst gifts rated by dads are:

  1. Socks
  2. Nothing
  3. Just a card
  4. A book
  5. A mug

The five top gifts rated by dads are:

  1. A day out experience
  2. A bottle of whiskey
  3. A handmade gift from the children
  4. Concert tickets
  5. Chocolate

If you’re stuck for a Father’s Day present this year, we’ve got a whole heap of gift ideas here.
