Dads-to-be advised to give up smoking, due to passive smoking risks for mums-to-be
A new study suggests that it is not only mums-to-be who should quit smoking – but future dads should, too.
Pregnant women who were passive smokers, especially those whose partners smoked during pregnancy, had a 25% increased risk for stillbirth and birth defects, reports the NBC4i website.
Experts from the University of Nottingham said they’re unsure whether the increased risks were due to breathing in secondhand smoke or if there’s a direct impact on the dad’s sperm development.A new study suggests that it is not only mums-to-be who should quit smoking – but future dads should, too.
