Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists issues new guidance
A new leaflet has been published by The RCOG offering expectant mothers advice about their unborn baby’s movements.
The publication, Your Baby’s Movements In Pregnancy, offers guidance on when you can first expect to feel your baby move, what the movements may feel like and factors that can affect these sensations.
Mothers-to-be are being advised to learn the patterns of their baby’s movements and how they can change at various stages in the pregnancy.
This information could be vitally important to help mothers distinguish between routine changes and those that may indicate a serious problem.
The RCOG have stated that the information should only be used as a guide by mothers and healthcare professionals to make the best decisions regarding care, saying, “it is not meant to replace advice from a doctor or midwife.”
