We’re polluting the planet by taking too many unused clothes and extras in our bags, a new study reveals
A quarter of British holiday makers spend almost three days packing for their trips away but only use a tiny 16% of the things they packed, according to a new study from Thomson. The results of this survey suggest that we’re not only struggling to lug about needless amounts of luggage on our holidays, (over 10% of women surveyed said they took five or more pairs of shoes!) but we’re also helping to pollute the planet! In order to cope with the extra weight, planes are using more fuel. The study also argued that if a third of holidaymakers left 25% of their luggage at home, the amount of carbon dioxide saved would be the same as taking 2,216 cars off the road each year. Do you find yourself packing for every eventuality when you go on holiday? How do you think we could lighten our loads?
