Guest of honour and his wife dozed off just 20 minutes after arriving
Youngsters at Vale First and Middle School in West Sussex were left unhappy after their guest of honour dozed off during their school play. They had welcomed the mayor of Worthing, Noel Atkins, and his wife Helena, to watch them perform the musical Bugsy, but both fell asleep after 20 minutes.“The children were upset during the interval and asked what they were doing wrong,” said one parent. “They thought the mayor was bored because their performance wasn’t good enough.”The mayor blamed his heavy cold and his wife’s medication for the impromptu snooze, adding. “I would like to apologise if I have upset any of the children. A reviving cup of coffee did wonders and we were pleased to meet and chat with the children afterwards.”
