Mum and daughter put positive spin on the heart-wrenching experience of hair-loss in emotional YouTube video
With all the smiling and laughing, it’s hard to imagine that mum Sara Duncan and her 6-year-old daughter Lola are going through such a traumatic time.
Mum-of-six Sara, 44, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last September, posted up a touching video of Lola cutting her hair.
The slow-motion clip was filmed after Sara started to lose her hair following chemotherapy treatment. It was then uploaded on YouTube after the encouragement of family and friends to raise breast cancer awareness.
Making what is usually seen as a heartbreaking task look more positive, the brave pair are seen smiling at each other while Sara’s cut hair falls into a bowl in front of her.
“Lola cutting my hair off was very cathartic. We were both laughing. We made it into a happy, giggly positive thing,” said Sara, reports the Telegraph.
“After it had finished it was sheer relief - one it was a decision made, and also it wasn't as bad as I thought and the dread was over. All my friends said really positive things, giving me confidence.”
Sarah’s husband Craig Duncan, 40, revealed the reason behind the heart-warming giggles.
"They were both laughing because Lola said ‘you are going to look like daddy when I am finished - two baldies,” said Craig.
