A group of mums and their babies have complained after being asked to leave a supposedly “family-friendly” pub in Southampton
Chain pub owners, Mitchells & Butlers, are investigating after a group of mums claimed they were asked to leave one of the company’s family-friendly pubs because of their babies.
The incident allegedly happened at lunchtime in The Cowherds pub in Southampton, where the three friends had stopped for some food with their four babies in tow.
“A man just approached us very aggressively and said: ‘Ladies I can’t do this, you’re going to have to go’,” said outraged mum Lucy Sloam. The man, who identified himself as the manager, went on to claim he “didn’t do women, babies and their emotions”.
The company’s area manager is now investigating the incident. A spokesman for Mitchells & Butlers said, “The Cowherds prides itself on being a family-friendly pub, which caters for families with young children by providing baby changing facilities and booster seats.”
“We’re disappointed to hear that a group of customers are dissatisfied with the service they received and we will contact them personally to ensure this matter is properly investigated and resolved,” added the spokesman.
