Regional poll reveals just how much UK parents spend on Christmas gifts
Parents in the North East are spending the most on toys and gifts for their children this Christmas, coming in at a massive £286.70, a survey of 2,000 parents by Bickids has found.
A close second and third were Northern Ireland and Wales, and last in the Christmas spending spree were parents in London, who admitted to spending £164.02 on presents this year.
The cost of these presents is also raising mums and dads stress levels, as two thirds of British parents confessed to feeling the pressure and suffering pre-Christmas tension in the build up to the big day.
The regional spending list came in at:
North East: £286.70
Northern Ireland: £264.36
West Midlands: £242.32
East Midlands: £225.78
North West: £223.95
South West: £197.12
South East: £195.71
East Anglia: £171.50
