Lights, camera, baby!

Moviegoers will notice a distinct boom this year in films about babies and children, reports The Independent.

From male pregnancy to adoption, it’s undeniable that reproduction and babies seem to be a hot topic on our screens. Here’s a round-up five must-see films about bumps and babies hitting our screens this year.

The hotly-anticipated comedy Friends with Kids stars Mad Men’s Jon Hamm and Bridesmaids funny woman Kristin Wiig. The story centres around two best friends who decided to have a baby together while keeping their relationship platonic.

The star-studded cast of What to Expect When You’re Expecting brings the bestselling book to the big screen. MFM got a sneak peek at the film, which pokes fun at pregnancy, and has a few tearjerker moments too. Check out our review.

A young playboy discovers he has one month until he becomes unfertile in the comedy Not Suitable for Children. Scared by the thought of a future with no children he attempts to find someone to have a baby with before his time runs out.

In the comedy That’s My Boy Adam Sandler plays hapless Donny, who fathered a son, Todd, in his teens and raised him as a single parent. After not seeing his son for years, Donny reappears and attempts to rediscover the father-son bond just days before Todd gets married.

The film This is 40 is sure to be another hit with filmgoers. Director and writer Jud Aptow’s “sort-of” sequal to Knocked Up follows the Pete and Debbie, played by Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann more than a decade after the events of Knocked Up.
