Pregnant woman tweets through her labour
Sara Morishige Williams 'tweets' during her labour

It’s no longer seen as over-the-top to scream from the rooftops when your baby arrives – these days, it’s the norm to announce the news in real-time; which is exactly what Sara Morishige Williams did via Twitter when in labour!

The wife of one of the co-founders of Twitter, Evan Williams, is certainly practicing what he preaches and decided to take her ‘followers’ through her experiences of labour, from when her waters broke to having an epidural.

“Dear Twitter, My water broke. It wasn’t like Charlotte in Sex and the City,” she announced via her Apple iPhone, referring to the character’s water breaking in the middle of the street whilst confronting her best friend’s boyfriend who stood her up at the altar.

She later followed up her journey through labour with, “Epidural, yes please.”

Would you twitter through your birth or do you prefer to do things the old fashioned way? Let us know below…

Oh dear... How sad is it that some women can't even put down their Blackberries/ iPhones even when they GIVE BIRTH! Give it a rest already and swicth off and concentrate on the labour, rather than 'tweeting' on their page. About 3 years ago

i have to say.... i quite like the idea. It is nice for the woman to share the stages of labour for the people who can't be there with her. Although, if all she is going to write is 'ouch, this hurts' or '%$#&())&^$#' then it's probably best unwritten! About 3 years ago

I agree. Unless you are writing something worth sharing like the name of the baby, what hospital you are in or anything funny - then there is no point! Quite like the Charlotte from SATC reference although I though Miranda breaking her water was waaaaay funnier - anyone know what I mean? when her water broke all over Carries brand new Christian Louboutin shoes???!!!! I didn't bother, one phone call to my Mum,the whole world knew all they needed to and more.

Did post on here and another site soon after, though.

Childbirth's not entertaining. It's private, personal and intimate.Don't tell me,she twittered through the conception too
