Artist Robert Bradford sells artwork created out of unwanted toys for up to £12,000 each
Old discarded toys are being painstakingly turned into expensive works of art by sculptor Robert Bradford. The dad of two, who lives in Cornwall, was originally inspired by his children’s jumbled up toy boxes, and created an Alsatian dog from bits and pieces of old toys. Four years on, Robert now visits car boot sales and second-hand shops to sift through thousands of models, figures, cars and game parts, to use for his lucrative and inventive creations. His large scale sculptures, often of animals, can each contain up to 3000 toys. He’s often commissioned by pet owners who want a ‘toy model’ of their pets, and will work from photographs to achieve a likeness from the toy parts.What would you like to make out of your children’s thrown-away or broken toys?Let us know…
