Tesco tells dad to leave for carrying daughter on his shoulders

Supermarket that banned pyjamas sparks new row

Supermarket giant Tesco asked a customer to leave one of its stores because he was carrying his daughter around on his shoulders.

Martin Dunkley, 45, from Cambridgeshire, walked into Tesco’s Bar Hill store with his 6-year-old daughter, Natalie, on his shoulders, only to be challenged by a security guard. The security guard asked him to take her down or leave the store as they supposedly posed a risk to other shoppers.

Dad Martin couldn’t believe his ears, and has commented, “I think she was far safer on my shoulders rather than running the risk of being hit by a trolley. This pettiness gives health and safety a bad name.”

Martin also said of his shoulder carrying, “We call it Nat-nav because she directs me around the shop telling me to go left or right or straight ahead.” So cute!

Tesco already sparked a row after banning customers wearing pyjamas while shopping, while an express store in the West Midlands has also banned school children from wearing blazers and taking bags into its store in a bid to stop shoplifting.

Tescos aren't doing themselves any favours at the moment.Who do they pay to come up with these things.Last time I had Arwen walking in Tescos she got hit by a trolley. The child in the story was too big for a trolley. Now if the Dad was swinging her round his head it'd be different. There's no way they'd injure anyone.

Yes but if she hits her head on a low roof or something silly or he slips on some vegetable leaves on the floor in the vegie section and she fell off, he'd sue. About 3 years ago

hi i'm new to all this but i do think tescos go over the top. i got told off by a cashier for sitting my toddler at the end of the checkout while i got my purse as he could have dirt on his shoes, in fairness this is right but she couldn't give an answer when i asked whats the difference with people putting their re useable bags on ther when they have probably been on the floor aswell.  i can see why the dad though put his child on his shoulders as i does stop children being hit by trolleys as said before above post  ususlly by those with trolley rage About 3 years ago

i HATE tescos, they really lack people skills as a whole company, ive known people who worked for them and said theyre just as bizare with staff!

One of there trolleys tipped over with jack inside when i was heavily pregnant with lola, 4 members of staff stood by as i lifted a full trolley up to release his arm that was trapped, i then rushed him to aande as he was bruising on his head and face and wouldnt move his arm and screaming constantly, the next day when i returned to follow up the complaint id made by phone a load of trolleys were in a skip and the area the trolley had tipped had been resurfaced, yet they told me i wasnt pushing it correctly???

SERIOUSLY! on his shoulders??? well christ wed never be allowed in! Jack is 99% time carried by andrew as lola just pulls his hair in the trolley and walking hed just be ran into by every other trolley!
