Mums feel unable to take a day off from work when their kids are ill

Four out of 10 working mums have sent their child to school when they are unwell because they felt unable to lose a day of work, research has found.

"Taking extra days off in term time can be a real struggle, especially in the current economic climate when people may be worried about their job security," said Susanne Wright, from Haliborange, the brand behind the survey.

Nearly 30% of the 2,000 mums polled said they were worried about taking time off when their child was sick in case they lost their job.

The typical child is apparently ill three times a year and the average mum takes around two and a half days off for each bout of sickness, according to the Daily Mail.
