It's tough when parents split - not made any easier when the spotlight of the world's on you and your family, like it was for actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt when they announced their divorce last year.

And now mum of 6 Angelina has opened up to Vanity Fair about how tough the whole situation's been - and how's she getting through it, along with her children.

Part of the healing process is often to cry - which she says she's done, but not in front of the kids.

"I think it's very important to cry in the shower and not in front of them," she told VF.

"They need to know that everything's going to be all right even when you're not sure it is."

Wow - here at MFM HQ we've pretty much all agreed we've cried in front of our little ones from time to time.

Surely it's not a bad thing to let your children see you have a whole range of emotions, not just happy, all the time, right?

Though the actress went on to say that she was often worried about her own mum growing up - something she doesn't want for her own offspring.

Perhaps her 'no tears' policy makes a bit more sense when you hear that...

Whatever the deal, we really hope her and the kids are doing OK - she says they're 'very brave' and that, currently, "we're all just healing from the events that led to the filing" ?

What do you think?

Do you avoid crying in front of your kids? Or do you think it's important for them to see it occasionally?
