Babies born on royal birthday to get hamper and silver coin

The coins are worth £28 each, but to celebrate the royal birth, The Royal Mint will be giving every baby born on the same day one for free. Parents can get their coins by applying for one via the Royal Mint’s Facebook page. Parents have 60 days to register and will need to supply a copy of the birth certificate.

The coins will either come in a pink or a blue pouch and will be accompanied by a card.

"The birth of the royal baby will be a special day for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but it also will be for many mothers and fathers across the country as they too welcome the arrival of their new baby, hence why we wanted to extend this historical moment to them with a lucky silver penny,” said Shane Bissett, director of commemorative coins at the Royal Mint

But the gifts don’t stop there. Babies born on the royal tot’s big day will also be able to enter a draw to get one of 50 limited edition Royal Welcome Hampers from Their Nibs.

The hamper will include a limited edition baby-grow, a swaddle blanket and a signature hat. New parents can apply via Their Nibs’ website.

Having sex could bring on labour. Semen contains a hormone-like substance called prostaglandin, which can help induce labour; and orgasm is said to trigger uterine contractions. Although anecdotally successful, there isn’t much scientific proof it works: a study in Malaysia was unable to find a link.

Overdue mums are also encouraged to relax. There is a theory that stress and anxiety prevent you from going into labour so have a pregnancy massage or take a relaxing bath.
