One-year-old Chinese girl ‘pregnant’ with her unborn twin
Doctors in China have been left stunned by Kang Mengru, 1, who is carrying her unborn twin's foetus in her stomach.
After being taken in by a childless couple in Louche City, in the Henan province of China, when she was abandoned by her natural parents, little Kang's stomach began to mysteriously swell.
Superstitious neighbours thought she was a 'monster' but they soon discovered the real reason when Kang underwent a CT scan to investigate the cause of the growth. It revealed she was carrying the parasitic foetus of her unborn twin, and it was growing in her abdomen.
Her foster parents are relying on donations set up by the local government to raise money for Kang's operation to remove the foetus.
