It's a topic she's talked about before, and having given birth to her 4th boy, Ronnie, in September 2017, gender selection is something Danielle Lloyd is bringing up again.

The model had a scan live on Loose Women which revealed she was carrying a son again - her first child with partner Michael O'Neill and 4th altogether (she has Harry, Archie and George from her marriage to footballer Jamie O'Hara).

Danielle's always said she'd love a girl, and admits it's not something she'd leave to Mother Nature if she and Michael have another baby - as he'd like to.

"Michael wants another baby, but I wouldn't risk another boy," she told OK! magazine, adding that her fiance has been looking into gender selection options.

Gender selection is illegal here in the UK, except in cases where there might be serious medical grounds like a sex-linked genetic disease.

This means couples who are determined to do it need to look abroad - California being particularly popular, although Danielle is looking at Cyprus.

Her comments haven't gone down too well on social media though, in some quarters, at least.

One person commented: “No way should you be able to choose your child’s gender. Any child, regardless of whether it is a boy or a girl is a blessing.“

Another described gender selection as trying to have "designer babies".

Danielle though, defended her decision, saying: "It’s always been my dream to have a little girl. It's about having that mix and bringing up a little girl.

"I know she might not be ‘girlie’ – she probably won’t be with 4 brothers – but it’s just about having a little mini-me almost.”

What do you think?

Do you get where Danielle's coming from? Would you ever consider gender selection? Or do you think it's better to let nature take its course, come what may? Tell us in the comments below or over on Facebook
