You might think David Beckham is probably one of the coolest dads a teenage boy could hope for. We're agog then to hear that Brooklyn gets embarrassed to be seen with his dad. Really. In fact, the dad-of-4 confesses his 15-year-old son Brooklyn gets him to park around the corner when dropping him off at school.

"I take him to school and he says to me, 'Daddy, park around the corner.' Sorry, 'Dad, park around the corner,' not Daddy, he's passed that," David told Jimmy Kimmel on his American talk show. (Ah yes, we know that moment).

"He tells me to park him around the corner, and then he gets out and he walks 'round to his school. He did it to me the other day after doing it about 5 times on the trot, so I'm driving around and he's just walking in his school, and I open the window and I said, 'Brooklyn! I love you!' Obviously it didn't go down very well."

So David plays the embarrass-your-teenager card too - yay. We bet he had the silent treatment from Brooklyn when he got home.

"Victoria did have to remind them the other day, 'Actually, you've got quite a cool dad,'" he added. "It didn't seem to make any difference."

More like this

But although Brooklyn's going through the too-cool-for-parents teen years, the 39-year-old is enjoying the fact that his younger children are still happy to be seen with him.

"The younger one [Harper] obviously loves me taking her to school," he said. "The two smaller boys, they love it, apart from my middle son Romeo, who's 12, he's just started - as soon as I take him into school, I'll go to kiss him and he'll turn his cheek. I will then pick him up and give him a bear hug and kiss him in front of his friends."

But it's not just the boys who are giving their dad grief. Harper, 3, can dish it out when she wants to as well! "My little girl turned round to me the other day, I'd just bathed her and I was in the bath as well, so I got her out and you know, I was towelling her down and she said, 'Daddy, I love you so much but I don't like you, you're so chubby!'"

Well, we don't know what to say to that. Don't worry David, we've all been told some awkward truths by children at some point!
