Kate Middleton has made her first public appearance since announcing her second pregnancy. Wearing an elegant grey coat, Kate looked remarkably well considering she's still said to be suffering from extreme morning sickness hyperemesis gravidarum. So was there a sign of a tiny baby bump under her coat?

Kate has been out of action until now thanks to the debilitating sickness that she's been suffering from since very early pregnancy. The 32-year-old royal cancelled a string of engagements since early September. According to the Palace, Kate's health is steadily improving and she commented that she'd been "looking forward to getting out of the house".

Kate's first duty was to attend the state visit of Singapore's President Tony Tan and his wife Mary. It’s the first time Kate’s been invited to join William in taking a formal role during a state visit to Britain.

Then later the same evening, she looked impressively fresh, as she attended the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards at London's Natural History Museum. Her striking blue gown was draped to one side at her waist, cleverly concealing any hint of a pregnancy tummy.

Hats off to Kate - we can’t help thinking that all that standing around must have been pretty tiring, especially if she’s still feeling peaky and with the world watching her.

It’s thought the Duchess is now just past her 12 weeks pregnancy stage, after the announcement this week from Clarence House that the new royal baby is expected in April. The official confirmation only talked about a baby and not babies, which appears to rule out rumours that Kate was expecting twins.
