The ex-Corrie actress was 11 days overdue with daughter Matilda
New mum Helen Flanagan has revealed the complications she went through to bring 6-week-old Matilda into the world. The former Coronation Street actress gave birth to her daughter with long-term boyfriend Scott Sinclair on Monday 29 June weighing 7lb 6oz – but it wasn't plain sailing.
Helen was 11 days overdue when her contractions started – she was 3-4cm dilated by the time she got to the hospital. But her contractions stopped soon after arriving at Good Hope Hospital in Birmingham so Helen was induced the next day.
"Matilda was in the back-to-back position, which made it even more painful. At one point my back was hurting so much that I screamed out for the doctor to give me an epidural," she told OK! magazine. "It was then that they decided to take me into theatre so they could use forceps as they had to act quickly."
But the moment Matilda was handed to Helen made it all worth it. "It was very surreal, I think I was in shock. I couldn't keep my eyes off her. It made the pain I was in all worth it – she's a dream come true," she said. "I was staring up at Scott and Matilda thinking, she's my world. I'm completely obsessed by her, though, I can't stop hugging and kissing her."
And Scott was bowled over by his daughter too. "It's hard to put into words just how amazing it was seeing the midwife carrying Matilda over to us," Scott added.

"We didn't find out the sex before the birth so hearing that we had a little girl was a lovely feeling, too."
And unsurprisingly, he was pretty impressed by Helen's performance. "I have a new-found respect for Helen after watching her go through a three-day labour," he said. Well, we'd think so!
