There was a particularly dramatic moment for actress MyAnna Buring to play in the latest ep of BBC One series In The Dark.

Her character, DI Helen Weeks, was just weeks away from giving birth when she found out that her partner, Paul, had been murdered in a drive-by shooting.

Devastated, she wanders outside her apartment door, grips onto a railing, and breaks down in the arms of another character.

But it would seem that MyAnna's understated, tearful performance was left in the shadow of her big, bouncing baby bump.

More like this

Yep, if we're judging by Twitter, it does indeed look like viewers were distracted from the action (and the rest of the episode) by the size of Helen's pregnancy tum.

"Helen's character is so well acted, but the bump, is the whole cast in there?" one fan wrote.

"It's a jolly good yarn but that baby bump is mesmerising. #InTheDark," added another.

One viewer just decided to tell is like it is: "That bump of hers is quite distracting from the plot. Like a very large beach ball up her jumper."

While another Twitter-er complained: "I want to pay attention to the plot but Helen's comical bump is preventing me."

We even noticed that one In The Dark fan called the bump "ridiculous" ?

Helen's bump - aside from being fake, of course - is far from ridiculous, but actually pretty normal.

Bumps, as we know, come in all shapes and sizes, all of them normal, and one of those sizes just happens to be: big!

Here at MFM HQ, we reckon that perhaps those larger, protruding, beach ball-style tums aren't seen enough on TV, which is why some viewers were so taken by it.

But if it was real, believe us, no one would find it more distracting than Helen herself ?

Have your say

Do you watch In The Dark - if so, did you think Helen's bump was distracting or didn't look quite right? Or did you think it looked totally normal?

Was your bump 'distracting' like Helen's as you approached your due date? Let us know in the comments below, or on Facebook
