Is your child's name on the naughty or nice list?

Ella, Bethany, Joseph and Cameron were found to be a bit of a handful - but do we believe it?

The 20 names to avoid if you don't want your house turned upside down

Walls covered with crayon and the remains of last night's bolognaise? Then it might be because you called your little one Ella or Joseph. If you'd gone with Amy or Jacob, then you'd be living in a spotless house with a child who always asks for more greens.

Well, that's what a new study of children's behaviour says. Pah!

Jacob! Put the permanent marker DOWN.

Of course, we're going to take it all with a pinch of salt.

Amy, don't draw on the carpet!

Phew. So before we tell you how the study worked out naughty vs nice names, take a quick look at the full lists below to see if your child's name is on there…

'Nicest' Girls

Amy, Georgia, Emma, Charlotte, Grace, Sophie, Abigail, Hannah, Emily and Alice.

'Naughtiest' Girls

Ella, Bethany, Eleanor, Olivia, Laura, Holly, Courtney, Amber, Caitlin and Jade.

'Nicest' Boys

Jacob, Daniel, Thomas, James, Adam, Harry, Samuel, Jack, Oliver and Ryan.

'Naughtiest' Boys

Joseph, Cameron, William, Jake, Joshua, Jamie, Lewis, Benjamin, Ethan and Luke.

So how did the researchers come up with these results?

The study was commissioned by School Stickers, a company that creates online stickers for teachers to award to pupils. It looked at the 1 million stickers that had been awarded to primary school children this year and found that children called Jacob and Amy and the others in the 'Nice' list - were awarded the most stickers.

The Josephs, Ellas and others in the 'Naughty' list received the fewest stickers. However, we've spotted a flaw straight away. These are all children who've been awarded 'well done' stickers, so Joseph and Ella and the others have actually been very good. What about the children who didn't get any stickers?

Plus, what if you have a child with a more unusual name, like Apple for instance?

Of course, it's not supposed to be serious. "The annual ‘Santa’s Naughty and Nice list’ is just a bit of fun, and obviously there are many Ellas and Josephs who are perfect little angels, just as I’m sure there are many Amys and Jacobs who can be a bit of a handful," says School Stickers MD Neil Hodges.
