  • Autumn/Winter fashion trends 2009

The fashion gods have spoken and now autumn has arrived, it's time to think about your warmer, winter wardrobe.

But there's one, not-so-little hurdle... you're pregnant! No worries - there's no need to hibernate this A/W 2009 as there are many stylistic, fashion-forward maternity collections oozing catwalk appeal but for a fraction of the runway price.

Check out our selection of four stand-out trends which will take the winter by storm and see how you (and your baby bump) can be a part of the fashion action.

  • Trend: Animal Print

Animal printed clothing creeps its way on the runway every other season, and this A/W is no exception as seen at Isabel Marant.

However, if you fear that only the brash can carry off this trend and worry you'll look more like Bet Lynch than chic - this season it comes in many differnt guises and doesn't limit itself to the staple leopard print.

Try out a fun, giraffe monochrome version from Matalan, a funky grey hued number by Dorothy Perkins or a leopard shoulder print jersey from Marks and Spencers.

It is more versatile than it appears and with an added personal touch, it might even bring the animal out in you...

  • Trend: Camel trench coat

The ultimate understated classic - the camel coat has reigned supreme on the catwalks this season proving that versatility and being timeless is a must-have for all investment winter coats.

It's warm honey hue (as seen at Chloe A/W 09) is neutral and can be worn slouchy, tailored, double breasted or belted - whatever your style, it's set to be the hardest working item in your winter wardrobe.

With stylish offerings from Blossom and Mother, New Look Maternity and Isabella Oliver - wrap up in this statement coat.

  • Trend: Draping

A popular A/W silhouette - sensual draping details have made an appearance on tops, dresses and skirts all over the catwalk.

Seen here at Elie Saab, the femininity shape and fluid draping of this trend brings an elegance and romance to anything it graces - perfect for when your pregnant body makes you feel totally the opposite!

Dress up your basic jersey at George at Asda, wear in a long, flowing dress at JoJoMamanBebe or keep it classic in a draped and gathered tunic from Topshop.

  • Trend: Sharp shoulder

Just when you thought the 80s fashion was long gone, the big shouldered look has taken the catwalk by storm!

Sharp, tailored shoulders are the ultimate accessory this season, making them the desired focal point on everything from blazers, tops, blouses and dresses.

Fear not - the 2009 version has a whiff of 80s fashion nostalgia but is more stylish and structured, making it easier to wear. What's even better is the accentuated shoulder equals a smaller silhouette, slimming down your wider bits.

Wear it in the form of a bejewelled dress, structured blazer, ruched top or boxy tunic.

However you wear it, wear it with attitude!
