Chantelle Southern, 25 from Liverpool, had popped into the Belle Vale Shopping Centre last Thursday with a friend, when her waters suddenly broke outside frozen food chain, Iceland.

Three security guards rushed to her rescue, choosing to help her into a nearby Boots as they thought the pharmacy was the most suitable shop in the centre for assistance.

After being taken into a patient cubicle inside the pharmacy, a security guard and two off-duty nurses delivered her 7lb, 11oz bouncing baby boy.

“I was four days overdue and just popped out to the shops with a friend to pick up some bread and milk,” explains Chantelle. “I was waiting for her outside Iceland when my waters broke. Next thing I knew, the security guards came over and helped move me into Boots. Then I felt the baby coming and I thought I was going to give birth in front of everyone in Belle Vale!”

Chantelle’s partner, Dean, arrived just in time to cut the cord, and was promptly congratulated by bemused staff and customers in the shopping centre.
