Who remembers the kudos Ashton Kutcher got when he raised the issue of providing baby changing facilities in men's loos?
Well, now, it seems that dream is becoming a reality - in some parts of the world, at least.
When New York City Council member Rafael Espinal saw a man in the Queens neighbourhood hunched over a sink in a public toilet trying to change his baby, he was shocked.
Though not a dad himself, Rafael was determined to do what he could to make a difference to the situation.
“It was terrible to see a father changing his child’s diaper on top of a public sink where hundreds of people wash their hands after using the restroom,” he told HuffPost.
“Parents should be changing their children’s diapers with a little more dignity, in a space that’s sanitary.”
And now, thanks to a new Bill, all new developments will require that baby changing facilities be put in men's restrooms, and older buildings will need to be equipped in the same way when they are renovated.
We have to say: we think this is AMAZING news. And we hope it crosses the pond soon. 🙏
