Olympic hurdler Jana Pittman has revealed how she helped deliver her own daughter. The 32-year-old admitted her daughter was "far more slippery than I’d thought" when she gave birth 5 weeks ago.

But what exactly did she do? Well, when her daughter was crowning, Jana reached down, put her hands on her baby's head and pushed. She then carefully hooked two fingers under her daughter's armpits and pulled her baby out.

"She was far more slippery than I’d thought she’d be!" Jana told Woman's Day. "I’d always wanted to deliver my own baby, and with my mum and two close friends there with me, it’s definitely one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever done."

Jana may have been more qualified than most for the birth as she's now in her third year of a Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery at the University of Western Sydney.

The medical student conceived 5-week-old Emily Coral Florence Pittman with an anonymous sperm donor. She's already mum to 8-year-old Cornelis from her previous marriage to her former coach Chris Rawlinson.

And just 2 weeks after her amazing birth – the champion hurdler was back on the athletics track near her Sydney home, training for her Olympic comeback.

On her website, the two times world champion says she wants to "repeat her previous comeback [to sport] post-pregnancy and return to her first love athletics for next years summer Olympic games in Rio. Only time will tell if it is possible!"

Jana kept her fitness up throughout pregnancy – and was still on the track in her 8th month of pregnancy. In January she shared the above picture of herself running at 30 weeks pregnant alongside her son. "Great day at the track with my little man running with me. No more hiding my 30wk belly. Love her already :)," she tweeted. So hopefully the hard work has paid off and Jana will be ready for the next Olympics in 2016!
