Olympic rower James Cracknell can’t be alone with his children
The dad-of-two can’t be left alone with his young children due to the effects of his devastating road accident
Olympic rower James Cracknell has spoken of the devastating long-term effects of the accident, which has left him unable to care for his two children alone, and the pressure it has put on his wife, TV and radio presenter Beverley Turner.
James was almost killed when he was knocked off his bike during a cycle, run, row and swim in America last year. The gold medallist now suffers from short-term memory loss due to the head injury he sustained.
James has been advised by doctors not to be left alone with 7-year-old son, Croyde, and 2-year-old daughter, Kiki, in case he accidentally leaves something dangerous around them.
The 38-year-old’s wife, Beverley, has previously spoken of how her husband now takes a long time to do simple tasks, and gets easily annoyed with their children.
“I feel a bit useless. I can’t help out. I regret that the injury has had such an impact on everyone. Bev and I talk about nothing else, which takes the fun out of our relationship. That must be hard for her.” James told the Radio Times
