@PPPMAGAZINE: What was the best advice you were ever given by your mum?

@Kirstymccabe: What will be will be and it's not worth getting stressed about things that are outside of your control.

@PPPMAGAZINE: What's your favourite thing about being a mum to 2-year-old Ethan?

@kirstymccabe: Looking at my son and thinking, 'I made that'. The feeling is indescribable and puts everything else into perspective.

@PPPMAGAZINE: Did you always want to have children?

More like this

@kirstymccabe: Yes I did. I'm not especially broody but I knew I wanted my own one day. I met my husband [South African architect Renato Marchio] when I was 30, so I was a bit of a late starter!

@PPPMAGAZINE: Do you have weather-themed books and decorations in Ethan's nursery?

@kirstymccabe: We do have children's weather books, weather stickers in the bathroom and his passport has weather-themed pages - a total fluke, it was the theme the passport office was going for that year. I nearly reapplied for a new one myself!

@PPPMAGAZINE: You are close to your due date, what have you enjoyed most about your second pregnancy?

@kirstymccabe: Feeling more relaxed about it all... and the 'boob job' effect.

@PPPMAGAZINE: Has this pregnancy been different to the first?

@kirstymccabe: Yes, the bump arrived quicker and I was a bit sicker this time. Every so often my husband and I start thinking about the first few weeks with a newborn and panic, but I've definitely been less worried about bump-related twinges and spent less time with my nose in pregnancy books this time.

@PPPMAGAZINE: Do you think of yourself as a strict parent?

@kirstymccabe: i'm probably not strict enough! I can't bear to do controlled crying but we have resorted to 'time out' when Ethan's naughty.

@PPPMAGAZINE: What does Ethan do that makes you smile?

@kirstymccabe:Just about anything he does makes me smile, but at the moment it's when he repeats everything we say like a parrot. We need to be careful not to swear now!

@PPPMAGAZINE: What are your three mummy must-haves?

@kirstymccabe: Baby wipes (not just for baby, they remove make-up and wine stains!), baby sleeping bags and a good support network.

@PPPMAGAZINE: How do you juggle work and motherhood?

@kirstymccabe: I'm lucky my husband works from home and can help out. I've been doing some shifts in Glasgow, and while it's nice to get a full night's sleep, I can't wait to get back to my boys.
