Tyra Banks opens up about 'traumatic' IVF struggle
The former supermodel breaks down in tears and says she's fed up of being asked when she's going to have kids
Tyra Banks has opened up about her "traumatic" experience of IVF. The 41-year-old has had several failed rounds of fertility treatment and some "not happy moments" as she tries to conceive a child with her Norwegian photographer boyfriend Erik Asla.
"When I turned 40, the one thing I was not happy about is that I did not have kids," she told People. "I'm like, 'Damn, the clock is ticking!'"
Tyra reveals she's undergone IVF in hopes of conceiving a child. "I've had some not happy moments with that, very traumatic moments," she says. "It's difficult as you get older. It's not something that can just happen."
But Tyra is still staying positive. "I hope", she says. "I don't just want one child. I want a litter! And I want to be the kind of mom where my child can come to me for anything."
Talking on her new TV show FabLife, Tyra revealed she's fed up of being asked when she's going to have kids. "I'm so tired of seeing on my social media, 'why don't you have kids, why don't you have kids?'

"You don't know, you don't know what I'm going through. You have no idea."
"For a long time, it was so funny, I was 23-years-old, I used to tell myself 'in three years I'm going to have kids.'
"Then I turned 24, 'in three years I'm going to have kids.' Every single year I just kept saying that.
"And then after a while it's like, now I want to, it's not so easy."
Meanwhile, on the same programme, model Chrissy Teigan opened about her own fertility struggles, showing it's not just those over 40 who can have problems. The 29-year-old just celebrated her two-year wedding anniversary with singer John Legend and revealed she's been trying to get pregnant for years. "I will say honestly John and I were having trouble," she said. "We would have had kids five, six years ago if it happened.
"But my gosh it's been a process. We've seen fertility doctors and once you open up about those things to other people you learn that a lot of other people in your life are seeing these people and they have this shame about it.
"So anytime somebody asks if I'm going to have kids I'm just like, 'one day you're going to ask that to the wrong girl who is really struggling and it's going to be really hurtful to them and I hate that. Stop asking me.'"
