MadeForMums is just back from the Kind & Jugend (K&J) trade fair in Cologne, Germany, which is like the parenting industry’s New York Fashion Week and a great indicator of what’s “in” and “out” in the parenting world.

We saw, felt and scrutinised thousands of products on show and got invited into 'hidden' rooms, in which were revealed top-secret new pushchairs.

Which means we can now share with you the key buggy trends for 2016...

The colour for next year

Call it slate, clay, graphite, gainsboro, carbonite or lead (or call it grey), it's going to be THE colour for 2016 and there are hundreds of shades of it on everything from car seats and cots to high chairs and changing bags.

Not the most exciting colour, we know, but we must say there are some stunning grey buggies soon to hit the shops, which we reveal below:

Rose gold buggy frames

We predicted last year the growing trend for coloured chassis, but this year’s K&J show went one better. Silver Cross launched its Special Edition Rose Gold Balmoral, rumoured to cost £40,000. The body and “key elements” of the pram are plated with 18 carat Rose Gold, and hand polished by a specialist goldsmith – wow!

Also embracing the trend is Mamas & Papas, which also gave its best-selling Urbo 2 buggy a rose gold chassis, but this one cost substantially less with a price tag of £579.

Wooden frames - yes, you read that right

Italian baby brand Foppapedretti is best known for bringing us the Myotronic, the first electronically-powered pushchair. But it seems the company is going back to basics with its newest buggy the i-Wood, as this buggy actually has a wooden frame.

There are some plastic and metal parts to the pushchair as you may expect, but the majority of the frame and bumper bar are both made from wood. That's a new look...

Military mums and commando dads

Camouflage is back in a big way for 2016. We’ve already introduced you to the brand new military-inspired Bugaboo by Diesel range that includes rugged khaki camouflage, but we’ve also papped the new look Cybex Priam.

This upgraded version of the luxury travel system has a dark woodland-toned (that’s brown and green to us) camo fabric, interspersed with vividly coloured appliqué butterflies.

It even has some laser-cut, 3D butterflies hidden on the hood of the pram that float in the wind!
