A month ago we shared the story of the dad-to-be in Canada who set up a website to let the internet choose a name for his unborn daughter.

Stephen McLaughlin's website NameMyDaughter.com allowed members of the public to vote for their favourite names.

We can now reveal that Stephen and his wife have named their daughter (drum roll)... Amelia Savannah Joy McLaughlin.

But Amelia wasn't first choice. In fact, after 150,000 votes 'Amelia' was the runner up. The real winner was Cthulhu All-Spark. Strangely, Stephen decided not to follow the public vote.

In fact Amelia's dad had always reserved the right to have final say on the name. Which is just as well. Other suggestions included Megatron and Streetlamp.

The father-to-be wrote on the website: “Hi, My name is Stephen and much to the disbelief of my wife, I have decided to let the internet name* my daughter.

“Yeah that is an asterisk, Unfortunately internet I know better than to trust you. We will ultimately be making the final decision, Alas my daughter shall not be named WackyTaco692. Sorry guys the wife wouldn’t go for a free for all.

“You can vote once for as many names as you want. Don’t forget to check out all of the first, middle or even both names for more options.

“Inappropriate submissions may be removed.

“So far I have only had to moderate several STIs and a couple of sexual positions… I would prefer not to have to remove anything from the list.”
