Why is Rey missing from the new Stars War Monopoly?
Hasbro say they had their reasons - though fans weren't convinced - and now their full Force has pressured the makers to rethink
Unless you've been living in a galaxy far, far away over the last few weeks, you'll know there was a new Star Wars film out, with a BIG new female lead in the form of Rey - a human scavenger doing her best to survive on the planet of Jakku.
She's played by a British actress, Daisy Ridley, and has a pretty crucial part in the latest SW saga, The Force Awakens.
So you can probably get why fans of the movie were more than a little bit baffled when a new edition of Star Wars Monopoly didn't included the intrepid heroine among its figures.
One eight-year-old girl even penned a letter to Hasbro to ask them just what that whole deal was missing out such a totally central character:

Hasbro's official response to the mystery of the missing Rey was that “the Star Wars: Monopoly game was released in September, months before the movie’s release, and Rey was not included to avoid revealing a key plot line that she takes on Kylo Ren and joins the Rebel Alliance.”
However fans were in the main not one bit convinced with this response. "Not buying it, at least, not completely. Rey could've been included and nothing would've been spoiled that hasn't been via the trailers, TV spots, and posters," said one.
Another suggests that far from it being a "spoiler" issue: "It's Hasbro's need to categorise toys by gender that drives this." Does he have a point?
Whatever the real meaning behind what's been seen by many as a glaring omission, Hasbro has been forced to do a U-turn on their original decision and has tweeted its agreement to include Rey in a future edition:
So, while it might be a too little to late for some fans, it seems Rey will - eventually - have her day.
