Aussie mum blogger Sophie Cachia, aka theyoungmummy, has totally hit the nail on the head when it comes to this recent photo post.

On the surface, it’s simply a cute selfie of a mum with her toddler son, shared on Instagram.

But as we know - social media’s not always what it seems.

Sophie explained what was really happening while this photo was being taken in the caption:

“To the naked eye, this looks like your standard cute photo of Bobby & I,” she began.

More like this

“This photo was in fact captured whilst I was taking a poo. Just thought I'd let you all know.

“Especially for all those planning on having children soon. This. Is. Your. Life. Goodnight ?”

???

This post caught our eye for so many reasons - one being that getting some toilet time without a mini person clinging to you is nothin’ but a pipe dream when you’ve got a toddler.

Locks can be broken. Rules can be ignored. Requests for privacy - ha!

Let’s face it - there’s just something about this situation that seems like the perfect time for a hug to little ones.

The other is something we’re all pretty well-versed in at this point: the fact that what we post about ourselves on social media can be manipulated and edited to make our lives look shinier than they really are.

It’s always nice to have a little reminder, though ?

A few commenters questioned how hygienic this is - and if it’s really necessary to post a photo like this on social media at all.

But we reckon this wasn’t done for them. It was done for all the parents who are in the same boat - and as Sophia noted, it was a friendly warning to those who want to become parents soon.

The warning may as well read: being alone in the bathroom? Enjoy it while you can, my friend.
