But scientists say you could soon use your smartphone for something much more personal… testing for pregnancy!

Scientists are developing small add-on devices that turn a smartphone's existing optical components into biosensing technology – that can test for pregnancy. The fiber optic sensor can monitor different body fluids including blood, urine, saliva and sweat to detect pregnancy. The findings would then run through an app to provide real-time results. So in theory, it could give you a positive or negative pregnancy test result instantly, say researchers at the University of Hanover in Germany.
