Celebrities like Michelle Keegan and her new husband Mark Wright can't get enough of Bootea, but could the detox tea be about to cause a celeb baby boom?

It turns out the 'weight loss tea' brand can actually stop the contraceptive pill from working – but there's no warning on the packaging. The tea, that's been endorsed by everyone from Kylie Jenner to Ashley Tisdale, claims to help you lose up to 7lb in two weeks by flushing out your digestive system. But this laxative effect can stop the contraceptive pill from being absorbed into your bloodstream in time to be effective. And some drinkers of the blend have been finding this out the hard way.

"At first it was great. I lost half a stone in two weeks," wrote one woman on an online forum according to Marie Claire. "That great feeling didn’t last long. I’m now eight weeks’ pregnant with our third child, and after four weeks of shock it has finally sunk in and I have accepted this."

But while the detox tea makers say that the tea "may affect the accuracy of the pill" on the FAQ section of its website – there's no warning on the box.

The site reads that the contraceptive pill's effectiveness could be affected "if you take your pill in the morning within four hours of the laxative effect". But "if you take the pill at night you will be fine as it takes around 10 hours for the laxative effect of the night time tea bags to set in," the site explains.

"I had the same result," wrote another woman. "Don’t get me wrong we are over the moon... But people should be made aware. I’ve been on the Pill for almost 14 years! 28 days of Bootea... PREGNANT!"

So it seems unless celebrity followers have really done their homework – or are extra careful – we could be in for a bit of a celebrity baby boom, so watch this space!
