If you think starting a family is an expensive business, spare a thought for Neil and Monique Ward, who, after 25 years and £100,000, have welcomed twin boys named Ben and Walker.
The couple started trying for a baby six months after marrying in 1985. But they found Neil had a low sperm count, after he had his vasectomy reversed, having fathered three girls in a previously relationship.
The next 25 years saw the couple have 17 failed IVF attempts, remortgaging their house to pay for them.
But the couple have no regrets on the expense and time spent trying for children, with Monique telling the Daily Mail, “We have both wanted this for so long now, it seemed unreal everything had finally come true for us.”
“They're our little miracles, both are perfectly healthy and neither of us can believe they’re really here, and now we’re just looking forward to the next 25 years of happiness bringing them up.”
