Teenager Holly Piggott has confessed to national magazine, Closer, that she goes out drinking five nights a week even though she’s pregnant.
The 19-year-old knows her partying may be harming her baby but worries she will be “boring” and lose her friends if she stops.
“I’m not an idiot, I know I might be doing my baby harm,” says the five-month pregnant teen.
She visits the pub three times a week where she will drink one WKD, a glass of wine and half a glass of beer.
Then Friday and Saturday she goes clubbing with her mates and can down anything from alcopops, beer, cider or even jaggerbomb shots.
The mum-to-be says she will keep up the nightlife antics until her bump begins to show and then plans to carry on at home.
“I’m young and don’t feel ready to stop my life. I’m trying to get the most out of it while I can. When I can’t fit into my size 12 dresses, I’ll stop,” she told Closer magazine.
She admits to using her morning sickness as a cover for hangovers so her boyfriend doesn’t find out about her drinking sessions.
Holly added: “If I throw up I can say it’s the baby. And when I go to the café for a fry-up I say it’s because I’m eating for two.”
Holly drinks up to 32 units in total, which is more than double the 14 recommended for women who aren’t pregnant.
The current advice for pregnant women is to stop drinking alcohol altogether.
However Holly isn’t alone, as 4% of pregnant women do not change their drinking pattern at all.
