New research in New York reveals that a mother-to-be's diet determines their unborn baby's sense of smell. This means youths that are exposed to alcohol in the womb are more attracted to the smell of booze.
Researchers in The States, observed how adolescent rats behaved around other rats with alcohol on their breath.
They concluded that those rats exposed to alcohol in the womb were twice as likely to follow the rats that had been drinking. Researcher Steven Youngentob said it 'appeared their sense of smell had been altered.'
